The safety of our members is of utmost importance.

Child Protection
LANSW requires all parents/carers to submit a Working With Children Declaration prior to the season start as all parents are required to be onsite helping and supervising during Little Athletics activities.
Footwear/Spikes
All children, whether participating in the competition or spectating, must wear well-fitting shoes at all times. Spikes are not necessary or recommended on grass but may be appropriate on various all weather surfaces. The following athletes may wear spikes in the following events (but never to and from the events):
- U11: Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump, Javelin and any running event where the participant remains in their lane for the entire event.
- U12+: Same as above plus all other running events taking place in lanes except for walks.
Supervision of Young Children
All children who are unsupervised are a danger to themselves and others. Generally, at TWLA events, parents should always keep little children close and well clear of the events as those who are not registered are NOT covered by insurance. However, this year, due to COVID-19 restrictions, children who are not registered are not allowed on the premises.
Warmup and Fluids
Our Coaching Coordinator leads a pre-competition warmup at 5:45 p.m. on competition nights in order to prevent injuries. Parents are responsible for ensuring their children attend this warm up and for their fluids intake.
Weather Cancellations
TWLA follows LANSW guidance regarding weather conditions that impact competition. We tend to not modify our program (as we find it has an adverse impact on attendance) but will instead cancel when necessary. Cancellations will be communicated via the Club’s Team App on Friday afternoon by 4:30 p.m. Please assume the competition is ON unless specifically notified otherwise.
