Zone Wrap up!

The full results will be posted by LANSW  – go to http://www.lansw.com and then click on competitions and then results. In the meantime, I have reviewed the results and Terrigal-Wamberal athletes have performed exceptionally well at the recent Zone Championships. Of the 83 registered athletes, 42 have automatically qualified for the Region Championships in at least one event by receiving a gold, silver or bronze medal. Many of these athletes will qualify for more events once the additional qualifiers list is posted. A huge congratulations to all 42 athletes for these amazing performances.

Special recognition goes to a handful of athletes with outstanding individual performances through the weekend:
Ava Simos was a five-time medalist with gold in the 100m, gold in the 80m hurdles, gold in the 200m hurdles, silver in the long jump and silver in the 200m

Jess Stone was a triple medalist with gold in the high jump, gold in the triple jump and bronze in the 100m
Our junior boys and girls relays also both received bronze medals – congratulations to Tobias Gray, Jimmy Johnston, James Milne and Tyler Robson (boys) and Mieke Oosthuizen, Layla Pace, Cameron Stamper and Bethan Minor (girls). They will not proceed onto Region but ran excellent races with very little training time together as a team. Well done!

Athletes who placed fourth or fifth or beyond are also to be highly commended – our Zone is probably the most competitive in our Region so many of the additional qualifiers will be selected from our Zone. Stay tuned for those selections to be published!

And finally, congratulations to all athletes who achieved a PB and those who just generally braved the hot weekend to be a part of a fun community event – keep up the great effort!
