TWLA athletes had an amazing weekend at the Region Championships. They braved ridiculous temperatures (Saturday), windy conditions (Sunday) and stiff competition (the whole weekend!) but managed many personal bests, supported their teammates and mingled with athletes from other clubs.
Four athletes have automatically qualified for progression to the State Championships:
Ava Simos (U13G) qualified for 5 events – Gold medal in the 200m hurdles, gold medal (and a region record) in the 80m hurdles, silver medal in the 100m, silver medal in the 200m and silver medal in the long jump
Izabella Dunne (U14G) qualified for two events – Gold medal in the 1500m walk and silver medal in the 1500m. She also received a bronze medal in the 800m.
Felicity Ruzek (U11G) qualified in the 60m hurdles having won a silver medal.
Layla Pace (U10G) qualified in the 60m hurdles having won a silver medal. She also placed 5th in the 200m and 6th in the 100m.

Two other athletes had strong 4th place finishes and will wait to see if their times qualify them for the State Championships:

A special acknowledgement goes to Harry Lowbridge (U8B) who received three medals – gold in the 200m, silver in the 70m and silver in the 100m. What a fantastic effort Harry! U8 athletes do not proceed to the State Championships.
